I took a run tonight.  I really haven't run since before LVC started (which was in August), and it was hard and semi-painful, but really, really good.  And also, it was a beautiful night to run.

Work today - pretty much the same.  We went to Harold Washington Park (aka 501) (apparently they number their parks in Chicago).  It's this sort of this hole in the wall park that's stuck in between two apartment complexes.  In fact if I wasn't looking for it, I probably wouldn't even see it.  It has nice equipment, but the park is in a not-so-great neighborhood, and we actually left early because my co-teachers didn't trust the people they saw walking by.

Not much else.

1. I saw a mouse in our classroom yesterday.  It scurried from behind the bookshelf and squeezed in between the filing cabinet and the art closet.  I freaked out, and Khalid, who was the only kid left, didn't see the mouse, but he started laughing the face I made...

2. We leave for retreat tomorrow morning.  It is in Ferryville, Wisconsin, which is on the Mississippi River (about 31/2 hours from Milwaukee).  It should be relaxing, and, if nothing else, a way to get in touch with nature again.

3. It was Laly's birthday today - she turned three.  We are having at least two, and possibly three of our kids move up to the 3-5 year old room soon...which means we are getting two new kids..which should be very, very interesting.

I miss Shelya.

Today we got to go outside, because the weather was so beautiful.  It helped to make my day go a little faster, but I missed Sheyla.  I used to walk outside with her and we'd sit on the grass together and I would make faces at her and she would crawl into my lap.

On another note, I went out to eat with Vanessa and her dad.  We went to a place in Evenston, right by Northwestern.  It was good to see her, and the food was fabulous!

1. Yesterday I watched trains pull into the Howard Station with Brenda and Neyalli.  Each time they would see a train, their whole faces would light up, and they would point to it, saying, "Look at the train!"

It made me think that, as adults, we never get excited about something as simple as a train pulling into the station.  It was nice to be reminded about the small, beautiful pleasures in life.
